Luis Filipe Scolari and
Sir Alex Ferguson have both claimed today that their respective clubs (
Chelsea and
Manchester United) will not be bringing in any new faces this
January. Man United today announced the
£16 million double signing of
Zoran Tosic and
Adem Ljajic, however Fergie has today admitted the club won't be doing any more
business this month.
Scolari also confirmed that his club, Chelsea, would not be
spending anything in the transfer window. He claims he doesn't need any more players because he already has
enough in his squad at the moment. The former
Brazilian manager did admit that players may be leaving
Stamford Bridge for what he called
"big money" and that has already happened.
Wayne Bridge has left the club to join
Manchester City for a fee of around
£12 million, however he is unlikely to be the only
departure this month. Personally, I feel if Chelsea are to challenge for
top honours on both the
domestic and
European scene, they need to bring
one or
two new players to the club. In United's case, I think they are a little
bit short in
defence and I wouldn't be
surprised to see Ferguson go against his words a bring a new defender to
Old Trafford in the coming weeks.
Make sure to stay tuned to
Football Corner over the coming weeks to see what transfers materialise.
