Wigan are set to be joined by
Tottenham in the race to sign
Reading midfielder
Stephen Hunt. The
Republic of Ireland international is likely to leave the
Madjeski before the
transfer window closes on Monday evening after it was revealed that any club who wanted to sign him only had to cough up
£5 million.
Hunt is widely regarded as
one of the best players currently playing in the
Championship and both
Steve Bruce and
Harry Redknapp have been impressed with the
27-year old. It is understood that Hunt is keen to move back up to the
Premier League after being
relegated with Reading last season.
I have always been a
massive fan of Hunt's and I think he would be a
quality signing for either Wigan or Spurs. Wigan have let go of a few
key players in recent weeks and I feel they will be
desperate to bring Hunt to the
JJB as soon as possible. On the other hand, Spurs could really use a
left-sided midfielder right now and I think Hunt would be the
perfect candidate to arrive at
White Hart Lane.
